Maheshwaraa
Mahaa to all Easwaraas
I kneel before you in all humility
to have given me this brain wave
to visit you in this life
as
Holkars palace 30 km from Omkareshwar
I cdnt breaathe for a minute over looking the Narmada
the temple infront of the palace was a beauty
The Sculpture marvellous in every marble angle
I ambled towards Narmada for a Bath
what to see what to miss
is it just a Bathing Ghat?
The dip in the river revealed this Truth
an elegance of Ganesha
yet to be explored
should I miss the temple for the river
they said Dussera is a great Festival here
Thanks to Ahilya bhai Holker
after the dip i pray to this Lord Ganesha
as Ahilyabhai did
She was a woman extraordinary
lost her Husband Prince at an young age
about to do Sati on this very Ghat
when her beloved Father in Law said
"If you too depart how will I live?
Help me in managing my empire"
she found reason in her FIL
she started managing this empire
was pious beyond words
built this temple with marvels
wherever you go you see architecture attractive
inspiring Mahaa easwaraa ever in you
the Narmada was flowing silently
when villagers nearby cross to exchange their produce
when weavers silently weave the great Maheshwari saris
Tourists like me dip in all awe in this Narmada
to get a rebirth of unimaginable happiness
to kneel again before this Nandi
as they said Maheshwara Himself is beyond PIctures
I didnt know how long I stayed
I studied the monuments she has created
Ahilyabhai is said to have created all the Easwara Temples
of Omkareshwar to Ujjain to even Varanasi
Hats off to this Lady
whom the remote villager like me would never ever know
So Maheshwaraa
