Saraswathi Puja..2007 ..
Goddess of Learning indeed is a bit Partial
As I tried all my efforts to seek Her help
To learn a bit of Vedas and a bit of Sanskrit
She said"yes"!
Never did I realise that She was Right
as my Half Baked Vedas was awfully baked
and Sanskrit is getting cooked
still inside the Oven!
Later on I realised my folly
by passing over a precious time of
Forty Odd Years
To kneel before Her to say "I am sorry"
"Dont worry my son,still nothing is lost,
You start with simple Tamil
eloquent and ebullient enough
Probably VInayahar Ahaval will do for You"
I did so with "Seethakkalaba..
and added a CD of Sirkazhi too
with great difficulty I got from the Music Shop
My learning of Sethakkalaba is still On"
"The first four words get rotated in my Brain
and the balance 1000 words stay in the Book itslef
when I was sunk and sad
Goddess again appeared.
"Dont worry son
It is simple Tamil but Tough indeed
Its enough you learn a bit of
whatever gets into your brain"
I searched for simple things that could fetch
rhyme and reason to enter my brain
in that process another 20 years is still rolling down
When I realised trying at this stage is a waste!
This is the time
another Goddess appeared before me
It is also Saraswathi but my wife
"Dont you know it is my Birthday?"
Dont you know Saraswathipuja is always my Birthday?"
"So What?"
"You have bougtht all flowers etc., but nothing for me?"
"What do you expect,I have bought Sirkazhi's cd ..its for you?"
"Who wants Sirkazhis Setthakkalaba?"
"What do you want me to do?"
"Go get me a Mysore Silk Saree?"
I ran from store to store
I found all shops in Madraclosed for the Ayudha Puja
(Here in Madras
Ayutha PUja comes on the first Thursday of the Navarathri festival
Giving excuse for all factories to close for a very very Long weekend)
I came back and told her that all shops are closed
"How can it be..it is not yet Ayudha Puja?"
"Thats what you and Goddess Saraswathi think
but the shop keepers and Staff think otherwise"
"Anyway..this year we celeberate my Birthday
in a simple style
with flowers and fruits
and No new Saris for me?"
(I thanked Goddess Saraswathi for bringing into her brain a sudden wave of Self Realisation!)
SARASWATHI PUJA
I did elaborate on all the items on my mind
"Yakundedu ...onwards to
reading out of....Seethakkalaba..."
when suddenly Goddess Herself appeared before us:
"I am so pleased with your PUja for Me
See the next door Neelakantan
He called Prohits and priests
Held a Nine day long KOlu to add
Distributed different variaties of SUndal to all
encouraged every youngster in the street to come and sing
but I am more pleased with you,
you know why?"
I said in all humilty
being afraid of my wife's desire for Mysore Silk
and my continuous failure to register even a simple Seethakkalaba
"I dont know,
I dont even know whether to call you Goddess Saraswathi or Madam Saraswathi"
She laughed with my stupid Humility!
"I am sorry if I am a bit Atheistic
I have been growing every year only in size you see
But my Brain is shrinking disproportionately too!'
She lauhed again.
I know only this way to celeberate
with fruits and flowers!
"Dont worry
I liked you cas
you celeberated the way I wanted
Full of Ignorance
Ignorance means Great Potential to improve upon
You also allowed one of your workers to perform the PUja
You not only celeberated in a simple style but distributed
Aval and all fruits to all staff
even to Antony and Nishil Hussain
As long as Ignorance is embedded in you
Humility is safely secured too.
Dont worry about your not learning!"
We prostrated before Goddess Saraswathi
who vanished the way she came
when my wife said sulking:
"better understand what is Humilty
dont suddenly run to Neelakantan to boast of what happened?"
